Wine is sunlight held together by water...

Galileo Galilei

Country Wines or fruit wines are fermented alcoholic beverages made from a variety of base ingredients (other than grapes); they may also have additional flavours taken from fruits, flowers, and herbs. This definition is sometimes broadened to include any fermented alcoholic beverage except beer. For historical reasons, mead, cider, and perry are also excluded from the definition of fruit wine.

Fruit wines are usually referred to by their main ingredient (e.g., plum wine or elderberry wine) because the usual definition of wine states that it is made from fermented grape juice.

The Wine Circle

Sampling Corner

The  Nairn Wine Circle is an enthusiastic group of individuals who all derive pleasure and fun from making Country Wines, from learning and honing their winemaking skills and from enjoying the company of  other enthusiastic Country Winemakers. A regular program of meetings and events are held throughout the year and a stand is always taken at the Annual Nairn Farm Show in July. The Circle welcomes winemakers and non winemakers interested in the social activities of the Circle. Click here for 2018/19 program.
